BE PHYSICAL

Exercising our body improves our physical health, and aligns our mental health and well-being.

Our body, mind and spirit work together and when one part of our SELF is not being cared for, it effects negatively or ‘overworks’ our other areas causing undue strain and stress.

Clearing our mind through physical exercise is an absolute and non-negotiable ‘must have’ in our life.

Exercising regularly was not important to me (as it should have been) until my early 40’s. My eating was getting out of control and my metabolism was slowing down. I would wake up with pain and stiffness in my lower back and hobble around for 5 minutes until I could straighten myself and walk properly.

This discomfort started me on my personal fitness journey, and the pain disappeared very soon after I became a member of a gym and exercised regularly.

Two years later I studied and became an accredited Fitness/Personal Trainer at the Australian Institute of Fitness.

I have consistently exercised at different levels for 11 years now and have found over the past few year some old habits have been creeping in, particularly with my eating.

My body is experiencing hormonal changes and I’ve definitely noticed lower energy levels, due to decreases in estrogen…and men will also experience this when their testosterone decreases.

The most important thing is to keep moving!

The gym is closed as it would be for all of us so I’ve had to come up with some new exercise regimes. For me it’s mainly walking, a few body-weight exercises (squats, push-ups and lunges) and yoga stretches.

As long as I am doing some sort of physical exercise because it enhances my sense of overall well-being.

What physical exercise could you add to your life today, if you haven’t already?
