BE CALM

Calm people tend to be the best people to be around when life is throwing lemons at us! A calm person moves straight through the emotions and gets to the heart of an issue. They don’t feel sorry for us or come and join us in our misery, they pull us out of our doldrums with words like “you’ve got this” or “your time is coming” or “STOP feeling sorry for yourself” or “come on…let’s go!”

Our ways of thinking can land us in hot water if we don’t recognise why we are so upset, anxious, sad, disappointed or angry. Yes, we should talk through anything bothering us but not so we can stay where we are, but because we want to move forward with our life and in our relationships.

Our emotions are generated by our feelings, which 100% comes from our ways of thinking about ourselves and others.

I am not always calm and I imagine none of us ALWAYS are, but the most important thing is to be aware and able to catch where our thoughts are taking us emotionally and then navigate ourselves accordingly…best we can.

Have you ever tried to help someone and it’s been frustrating to watch them continue doing the same thing expecting a different result?

It’s pointless trying to get someone out of a hole if they don’t grab our hand, or the rope we’ve sent to them, or even making available a ladder.

People have to want to change how they are and where they are in life. Nobody can help someone who is not willing to change their situation.

You don't have to control your thoughts.

You just have to stop letting them control you - Dan Millman

Today we will ponder being a CALM person, being aware of our thoughts, and how they direct our lives moment by moment.
